As a young kid I was a casual Oakland A’s fan; I remember going to games and seeing Lansford, Rickey, Eckersley, etc. (Guess how old I am…). I followed baseball less and less as I got older, but always considered myself an A’s fan. After the strike in 1994, I lost faith with baseball and swore I would never follow it again. In 2000 I moved to NYC by myself and was bored one night in October, flipping channels on the TV and saw the Oakland A’s playing in the playoffs. With nothing else to do at the time I watched the entire game and just like that I was back in baseball. After that one night I started following the A’s and baseball again and have never looked back.
